Badacze z Uniwersytetu Śląskiego i Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego opracowali nowe urządzenie do diagnostyki nowotworów skóry. Jest nim specjalny klips, który daje bardziej dokładny obraz niż badanie dermatoskopowe, wykorzystywane w badaniu znamion barwnikowych na skórze.
– Urządzenie przypomina zwykłą klamerkę do bielizny. Łapiemy fałd skóry w miejscu, w którym znajduje się znamię – tłumaczy dr hab. inż. Robert Koprowski z Uniwersytetu Śląskiego. Wyemitowana wiązka światła jest kierowana do licznych odbiorników zlokalizowanych w jednym z ramion klipsa. To z kolei pozwala określić grubość zmiany i inne jej parametry oraz decydować o podjęciu leczenia lub dalszej obserwacji.
Grubość zmiany ma wpływ na szanse wyleczenia
Podczas badania zmiany na skórze za pomocą opracowanego klipsa analizowana jest asymetria nacieku, różnice w zabarwieniu, nierówność brzegów, ale także co równie ważne jej głębokość. Tej głębokości i wewnętrznej struktury nacieku dermatoskopia nie jest w stanie zmierzyć. Natomiast to właśnie w zależności od głębokości guza, szanse na wyleczenie nowotworu różnią się.
– Dzięki temu diagnostyka takich nowotworów skóry, jak czerniak złośliwy, będzie szybsza i obarczona mniejszymi błędami – dodał Koprowski.
Badanie klipsem jest nieinwazyjne i bezpieczne
Opracowany przez naukowców z Katowic klips gwarantuje nieinwazyjną i bezpieczną metodę badania, nawet w przypadku miejsc zmienionych chorobowo. Urządzenie będzie można wykorzystać również do monitorowania postępów leczenia w warunkach domowych oraz szpitalnych.
Urządzenie zostało objęte prawem ochronnym. Jego autorami są naukowcy z Wydziału Nauk Ścisłych i Technicznych Uniwersytetu Śląskiego: dr hab. inż. Robert Koprowski i prof. inż. Zygmunt Wróbel, a także badacze ze Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach: dr hab. Sławomir Wilczyński i prof. Barbara Błońska-Fajfrowska.
