14 września, w Światowy Dzień Atopowego Zapalenia Skóry, rząd ogłosił, że od listopada terapia biologiczna lekiem dupilumab będzie refundowana dla chorych z ciężką postacią AZS. Organizacje i środowiska pacjenckie zabiegały o tę decyzję od dawna.
Jak poinformował Hubert Godziątkowski, prezes Polskiego Towarzystwa Chorób Atopowych, lek Dupixent (dupilumab) będzie dostępny w refundacji dla dorosłych pacjentów od 1 listopada 2021 roku. Informacja została przekazana przez wiceministra zdrowia Macieja Miłkowskiego.
Jak podkreśla Godziątkowski, decyzja o refundacji była wyczekiwana przez środowiska pacjenckie od dawna. Wniosek o objęcie terapii biologicznej refundacją został złożony jeszcze pod koniec 2019 r.
Zamieszczenie dupilumabu na liście refundacyjnej sprawi, że możliwe będzie uzyskanie refundacji dla kolejnych grup wiekowych, w tym również dla dzieci. Celem jest, by lek stał się dostępny dla wszystkich pacjentów.
– To najlepszy prezent, jaki pacjenci mogli otrzymać z okazji Światowego Dnia AZS – podsumował prezes Polskiego Towarzystwa Chorób Atopowych.
Terapia biologiczna dla najciężej chorych
Dupilumab to przeciwciało monoklonalne, którego działanie polega na blokowaniu białek IL-4 i IL-3 odpowiedzialnych za występowanie objawów AZS. Wyniki badań klinicznych dowodzą, że dupilumab skutecznie zmniejsza świąd i dolegliwości bólowe, łagodzi stan zapalny i poprawia stan skóry, a także łagodzi objawy psychiczne takie jak depresja czy niepokój.
Bez refundacji terapia dupilumabem kosztuje nawet ponad 25 tys. zł. Z tego powodu była dotychczas nieosiągalna dla pacjentów.
Nowe możliwości leczenia
Jedynym refundowanym w Polsce lekiem na AZS była dotychczas cyklosporyna. Lek ten nie zaspokaja jednak potrzeb wszystkich pacjentów, ponieważ zgodnie z rekomendacjami może być stosowany maksymalnie przez 2 lata, a leczenie nie we wszystkich przypadkach daje pozytywne efekty. Decyzja o refundacji dupilumabu zapewni chorym nowe możliwości skutecznego leczenia.
