Jak alarmuje Polskie Towarzystwo Chorób Atopowych, koronawirus jest szczególnie groźny dla pacjentów cierpiących na atopowe zapalenie skóry, zwłaszcza tych z umiarkowaną lub ciężką postacią choroby. Grupą, która jest jednak najbardziej narażona na zachorowanie na COVID-19 są pacjenci z astmą jako chorobą współistniejącą.

– Świąd jest tak silny, że pacjenci nie są w stanie nad nim zapanować. Drapią się do krwi. (…) Te rozdrapane, otwarte rany narażają pacjentów na zakażenia wirusowe i bakteryjne. Nie można im powiedzieć, żeby się przestali drapać – nad tym nie zapanują. Warto jednak, aby pacjenci, którzy takie rany mają, bardzo na siebie uważali i w najbliższym czasie zostali w domu, aby nie narażać się na zakażenie – powiedział prezes Polskiego Towarzystwa Chorób Atopowych Hubert Godziątkowski.

Atopowe zapalenie skóry to to jedna z najczęstszych przewlekłych chorób skóry

Według PTCA, schorzenie to występuje u ok. 15-30 proc. dzieci i 2-10 proc. dorosłych. AZS rozwija się najczęściej w wyniku współdziałania czynników genetycznych, środowiskowych, jak również w wyniku uszkodzenia bariery skórnej i zaburzeń układu immunologicznego.

– Zaburzenie funkcjonowania układu immunologicznego, na który wpływ ma przyjmowanie leków immunosupresyjnych przez pacjentów z AZS, współistniejące przewlekłe schorzenia, w tym choroby układu oddechowego, czy właśnie otwarte, rozdrapane rany, zwiększają znacznie ryzyko zakażenia koronawirusem i późniejsze ewentualne wtórne powikłania – dodał.

PTCA zaznaczyło, iż pacjenci z AZS to, obok diabetyków, osób z nadciśnieniem i pacjentów z chorobami autoimmunologicznymi osoby w grupie dużego ryzyka zakażenia koronawirusem. U tej grupy pacjentów skóra jest sucha, zaczerwieniona, pęka i łuszczy się, ma tendencje do liszajowacenia. Głównym objawem tej choroby jest bardzo uporczywy i trudny do opanowania świąd, a także bolesne zmiany zapalne.

Jaki wpływ na układ odpornościowy ma stres i zaburzenia snu?

Jak zwrócono uwagę w komunikacie, prawie 80 proc. pacjentów z AZS cierpi na bezsenność, a aż 84 proc. ma trudności z zasypianiem.

– Połączenie czynników takich jak rozdrapane rany, stosowanie leków immunosupresyjnych, nadmierny stres i zaburzenia snu mają ogromny wpływ na zaburzenia funkcjonowania układu immunologicznego – podkreślono.

Polskie Towarzystwo Chorób Atopowych prowadzi grupy wsparcia na Facebooku. Jak informuje Towarzystwo, w ramach grup wsparcia zostały utworzone oddzielne wątki poświęcone wyłącznie tematyce koronawirusa.

– Publikowane są tam informacje, linki do rzetelnych źródeł wiedzy, a użytkownicy wzajemnie się wspierają wiedzą i doświadczeniami – dodano.
