Podczas tak skomplikowanej operacji onkologicznej jaką jest usunięcie rozległego nowotworu z obrębu żuchwy, eksperci z Kliniki Otolaryngologii, Chirurgii Głowy i Szyi przeprowadzili również rekonstrukcję płatem unaczynionym. Jest to dotychczas pierwszy tego typu zabieg na Dolnym Śląsku.
– Konieczne okazało się usunięcie połowy żuchwy wraz z dnem jamy ustnej i policzkiem, a następnie odtworzenie ubytków fragmentami kości, mięśni i skóry z podudzia chorego – powiedziała dr Monika Rutkowska, zastępca kierownika Kliniki Otolaryngologii, Chirurgii Głowy i Szyi, konsultantka wojewódzka w zakresie chirurgii głowy i szyi.
Operacja trwała 13 godzin
W operacji wzięło udział kilkunastu lekarzy specjalistów z dziedziny chirurgii szczękowo-twarzowej i otolaryngologii (dr n. med. Bartosz Mańkowski, dr n. med. Szczepan Barnaś, dr n. med. Monika Rutkowska, dr n. med. Paulina Czarnecka, lek. Paweł Poniatowski, lek. Krzysztof Pakulski, lek. Mateusz Jeka), anestezjologii (lek. Mirosław Rosiński i lek. Jan Wierciński), jak również zespół pielęgniarek anestezjologicznych oraz instrumentujących pod kierownictwem mgr Kazimiery Błąkały.
– Wysiłek był ogromny, ale mamy wielką satysfakcję, że jako pierwszy ośrodek na Dolnym Śląsku i jeden z nielicznych w Polsce możemy zaoferować pacjentom z zaawansowaną chorobą nowotworową tego typu pomoc i jednocześnie względną jakość życia. Zwłaszcza, że w tym trudnym, pandemicznym czasie chorym naprawdę trudno szukać ratunku w odległych ośrodkach – podkreśliła dr Rutkowska.
Dzięki udanej operacji pacjent czuje się dobrze. Czeka go jeszcze dalszy etap leczenia oraz długotrwała rehabilitacja.
