„Poczucie zagrożenia ze strony wirusa, trudności w szkole związane ze zdalnym nauczaniem, izolacje, kwarantanna i ograniczony kontakt z rówieśnikami spowodowały, że u wielu młodych pacjentów z AZS zaostrzyły się objawy choroby” – wskazuje Hubert Godziątkowski, prezes Polskiego Towarzystwa Chorób Atopowych (PTCA).
Jak wyjaśnił prezes PTCA stres i silne emocje niejednokrotnie są impulsem wywołującym objawy kliniczne atopowego zapalenia skóry. Z kolej pojawiające się zmiany generują kolejny stres i nerwy. „Tak koło się zamyka” – podkreśla ekspert.
AZS znacznie utrudnia funkcjonowanie nastolatkom
96 tys. młodzieży w Polsce w wieku od 12 do 17 lat choruje na atopowe zapalenie skóry. Hubert Godziątkowski dodaje, że około 200 nastolatków ma ciężki przebieg choroby.
Zdaniem prezesa PTCA atopowe zapalenie skóry znacznie utrudnia funkcjonowanie nastolatkom, m.in. wpływa na naukę i relacje młodych ludzi z rówieśnikami. Jak zauważa, choroba niszczy nie tylko fizycznie, ale także psychicznie, ponieważ pojawiające się zmiany skórne często są przyczyną stygmatyzacji i wykluczenia społecznego. Zdaniem prezesa PTCA młodzi ludzie z atopowym zapaleniem skóry znajdują się obecnie w bardzo złym położeniu, ponieważ doświadczają strachu związanego z pandemią, a także utrudnionego dostępu do specjalistów.
Zdaniem Huberta Godziątkowskiego sytuację chorych z ciężkim przebiegiem AZS z pewnością poprawiłby dostęp do terapii biologicznej, która wpływa nie tylko zdrowie, ale także jakość życia.
– Leczenie biologiczne opiera się na zastosowaniu cząsteczek białkowych wytwarzanych przez organizmy żywe, które hamują lub naśladują działanie białek naturalnie występujących u człowieka – wyjaśnił ekspert.
Dupilumab szansą na poprawę jakości życia nastolatków z ciężką postacią AZS
Amerykańska Agencja ds. Żywności i Leków (FDA) uznała za przełomową terapię biologiczną z zastosowaniem leku Dupilumab. Leczenie m.in. znacznie zmniejsza występowanie świądu, pozwala kontrolować chorobę, ogranicza występowanie zaostrzeń skórnych, co wpływa na poprawę jakości życia pacjentów. W Polsce terapii biologicznej mogą obecnie poddawać się jedynie dorośli pacjenci z ciężką postacią AZS.
– Lek podawany jest raz w miesiącu w postaci iniekcji podskórnej, dzięki czemu pacjenci mogą samodzielnie przyjmować kolejne dawki. Niestety terapia nie jest dostępna dla nastoletnich pacjentów. Mamy jednak nadzieję, że zgodnie z zapowiedziami Ministerstwa Zdrowia już niebawem się to zmieni. (…) Tylko dostęp do skutecznej terapii jest w stanie pomóc młodym pacjentom z AZS – podsumował ekspert.
